Krishi Vigyan Kendra Longding Orgainises Training on Integrated Disease and Pest Management in Citrus.

Disease and Pest infection are one of the major snags for Citrus growers. These biotic stressors decreases yield, increase cost of production, affects the quality and thus hamper marketability and storage of the produce and in some cases completely damage the plants. The farmers residing in far-flung places do not have any knowledge to control this disease and pest infection. Citrus being one of the important crops, the management of disease and pest infection is very much important so that Citrus growers can achieve prolific yield. Keeping these facts in view Krishi Vigyan Kendra Longding organized a day long training programme on Integrated Disease and Pest management in Citrus at Kanubari on 28th June 2019.

The key objective of the training is to broaden the participant’s knowledge on integrated disease and pest management in Citrus. Altogether 25 farmers participated in the training programme. The programme begins with welcome address by Dr. Kirankumar Singh, Senior Scientist and Head (i/c). He briefed the gathering about the importance of the trainng programme and urge the participants to take full benefits of the programme.

Dr Senpon Ngomle, Subject Matter Specialist, Plant Protection was the coordinator of the training programme. He delivered his lecture in details about Disease and Pest Management in Citrus. He suggested the farmers to combine various control measures that complement each other for effective and economic management of Disease and Pest. He emphasized more on Organic management approaches such as use of Bio control agents, Botanicals, Bio pesticides etc. The farmers appreciated the training programme and urge KVK officials to organize such programme in near future. The programme ended with vote of thanks from Dr. T. Tayo.
